Yigal Bashan in New York, circa 1972
A colorized photo of the Israeli Singer ,Yigal Bashan, who passed away
on Dec 9th 2018.
He is seen posing against the backdrop of NY,
for what I assume was a promotional photo
during his short roundevieu in the big apple.
Yigal Bashan came to NY in 1972, as he was trying to start an international career.
With the help of Israeli producer Louie Lahav, Yigal Bashan almost made it.
He had one song written for him by Neil Diamond and was acquainted with, then famous band, "Blood Sweat and Tears"
On Oct 1973, as the Yom Kippur war broke, Yigal Bashan Left the US and lost his chance for an international crear, in order to perform in front of IDF soldiers at the front.
A few months before Yigal Bashan committed suicide, I found this black and white photo at a flea market in Israel.
It intrigued me and I decided to colorize it.
Photographer: unknown???
This next photo was found on the web.
I assume It was taken on the same shoot.
at the same location.
Here is a video showing Yigal Bashan on that same day.
Screen captures from the video.
It took me a while to figure out the exact location where this photo was taken.
It is the "Gapstow Bridge" over the pond on the south east corner of central park.
Behind Yigal Bashan are buildings on fifth Ave.
This is how the same spot looks like today on Google street view
This next video is of Yigal Bashan accompanied by "The Ambassadors", performing during the Yom Kippur war in 1973 on the banks of the Suez Canal.
